It has been my privilege to walk alongside many kids, teens, adults, and families in their journeys of healing. I would be honored to answer any questions that you may have about the process and to hear more about your story. Please feel free to contact me for a free consultation.
Counseling can help children, teens, and families find positive ways to deal with a variety of life challenges. Common issues may include family conflict, divorce, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, or behaviors such as aggression, defiance, or self-injury. Kids and teens tend to find therapy to be a fun and empowering experience. I often work with kids and teens individually, while providing regular consultation with their parents. I also work with families as a whole. Working with kids and teens is one area in which I have the most experience. To learn more about therapy for children and adolescents, you can visit my blog here.
Individual therapy can provide a safe space for individuals to gain deeper insight into themselves and to seek inner healing. Common issues may include depression, anxiety, substance use, co-dependency, relational pain, and trauma. I work with my clients to identify their own personal goals and frequently incorporate both cognitive-behavioral and expressive-arts interventions. I also offer EMDR for trauma processing when appropriate.
Intimate relationships can be the source of our greatest joys as well as our greatest pain. Couples counseling can help couples find ways to understand each other better, face challenges together, and rebuild after devastating losses. For couples who are thinking about marriage, I also recommend 4-8 sessions of premarital counseling, to help them forge the tools they need to lay a strong foundation for their future together. I approach couples’ counseling from an attachment theory perspective, and I also am influenced by the work of Dr. John Gottman. In addition, I am a trained PREPARE-ENRICH facilitator.
Group counseling can be an affordable and powerful way to learn, grow, and heal within a small, safe community. Currently, the following groups are being offered:
- Behavior 911: Managing Difficult Behaviors in Kids and Teens
